CHINA-INTERNAL: ANTI-CORRUPTION CAMPAIGN

China's anti-corruption body, the Central Discipline Inspection Commission published its list of the 100 most wanted economic fugitives on April 23, 2015, to emphasise China’s determination to seek foreign assistance to prosecute economic crimes. Many of the names and pictures were already published through the France-based global policing network Interpol. The list included photographs and personal details of these fugitives whom China has vowed to apprehend. Nearly a quarter of the group is female. The list is part of a new campaign authorities dubbed “Skynet” that was announced in March 2014.

(Comment: The Chinese state-run English-language China Daily had reported on December 5, 2014 that the campaign had netted 428 suspects from 60 countries in its first six months, including 231 suspects who had turned themselves in.)
