The Beijing-based 'Maritime China' on April 23, 2015, posted a picture of a model of the PLA Navy's future 40,000-ton amphibious assault ship on its official Weibo account. The model showed an amphibious assault ship capable of operating between six and 10 helicopters with a weight of 15 tons from its deck. The ship has two HHQ-10 air defense missile launchers and three 16-cell HHQ-16 medium-range air defense missile launchers. A Type 1130 close-in weapons system can also be seen from the model. The ship has only one elevator, on the stern.
