CHINA-PAKISTAN: AIR FORCE AND MILITARY COOPERATION

The Liberation Army Daily reported on June 6, 2015 that Pakistan Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, had an hour-long meeting with General Ma Xiaotian, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and Commander of the PLA Air Force, at the PLA Air Force headquarters in Beijing on June 1, 2015. Ma Xiaotian said that "China highly treasures" the "all-round cooperation, all-weather friendship, and all-out support between China and Pakistan" and is willing to make progress together with Pakistan "based on the new bilateral relations which has been upgraded to be the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership". Stating that Ma Xiaotian said "The extensive exchange and cooperation carried out by the air forces of the two countries in professional and technical fields have pushed forward the development of the two air forces" he added "the Chinese Air Force is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation with PAF."

The LAD pointedly observed that Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman "chose China to start his first foreign visit after taking office as chief of air staff of PAF" thereby fully indicating that Pakistan Air Force attaches great importance to developing relations with the Chinese Air Forces. Sohail Aman came to China for 6-day visit on May 31 at the invitation of Ma Xiaotian.
