Wu'er Kaixi, an ethnic Uyghur and well-known Chinese dissident who fled China just at the time of the crackdown in Tiananmen Square in Beijing in 1989 and a Taiwanese citizen for the past 20 years, is to announce his decision to be a candidate for the pro-independence DPP in Taiwan's forthcoming national elections in January 2016. He is to make the announcement on July 25, 2015.
