CHINA-SEPTEMBER 3 MILITARY PARADE

The US-based Chinese political news outlet Duowei reported on August 6, 2015, that China is likely to show off its latest and most advanced weapons and military equipment at the major military parade in Beijing next month to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. These will include the new Type 99A2 Main Battle Tank, the ZBD-04 infantry fighting vehicle, double-barreled 35 mm anti-aircraft guns, domestic airborne fighting vehicles, the PLZ-05 155 mm self-propelled howitzer, the HQ-10 surface-to-air missile system, the PTL-04 wheeled armored vehicle tank destroyer, the DF-21 medium-range ballistic missile, the DF-31 road-mobile rocket intercontinental ballistic missile and the JL-2 "Giant Wave" second-generation intercontinental-range submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM). Citing predictions from the website of Hong Kong's Phoenix Television, Duowei said that the military parade to be held on September 3, will be attended by numerous world leaders and probably feature around 5,000 soldiers, or about half of the number involved in the PLA's 2009 military parade to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
