The September 2015 issue of the Chinese journal World Regional Studies contains an article discussing Chinese interests in navigation in the Arctic region.  The article, which notes that China has undertaken 5 Arctic expeditions since 2004, discusses the benefits to China and the strengths and weaknesses for exploiting the Arctic region for navigation and possibly its resources.
