CHINA-INTERNAL: PROPAGANDA/DISSENT

 The state-run Global Times on December 22, 2015, reported that the Beijing Second Intermediate People's Court's verdict delivered on December 22 morning in the case of Pu Zhiqiang sentenced him to 3 years imprisonment, suspended for three years for 'the crime of incitement to ethnic hatred'. Xinhua News Agency said that Pu Zhiqiang pleaded guilty to repentance.


It observed that Pu Zhiqiang has been detained for over a year and now that he has been sentenced to three years may lose his lawyer's qualification. It added that 'freedom of expression is a boundary and freedom of speech on the Internet is the same way. Pu Zhiqiang's case had clarified the latest boundary markers established for this purpose'.
