CHINA-INTERNAL: LEADERSHIP

The state-run Global Times, quoting the Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CDIC), announced on January 6, 2016, that Lu Xiwen, a former Beijing Deputy Party chief had been dismissed her from public office for multiple offenses, including making groundless statements against the Party line. The CDIC said "Lü Xiwen severely violated political discipline and rules," made groundless statements against the Party's key policies, formed cliques and obstructed investigations. The statement added that Lü Xiwen had accepted bribes and taken advantage of her post to seek profits for others, including helping her relatives' business interests and that she failed to properly supervise people working around her. It accused Lü Xiwen of seriously violating organizational rules in promoting officials, failing to report relevant personal matters and meddling with the selection of officials in her former work unit. It said also that she flouted the frugality rules introduced in late 2012 by frequenting private clubs and "living an extravagant life."
