CHINA-INTERNAL: POLITICAL AND LEGAL WORK

 Beijing Times reported on January 23, 2016, that the two-day Central Political and Legal Work Conference held in Beijing concluded on January 22, 2016. It said Politburo member and Secretary of the Central Political and Law Commission, Meng Jianzhu  said that this year the political and legal system will focus on anti-terror and violence to maintain political security, financial security, network security, public safety and five other major areas of work. He said that according to reports, international terrorism has entered a new active round of spreading influence and China is facing an increased risk of terrorist attacks. To prevent and combat terrorist activities, China will strengthen border and ports controls, impose strict immigration control measures, step up detection of the use of dangerous explosive materials, use dynamic recognition, voice recognition, voice-print technology and equipment, and strengthen the key personnel involved in terrorist control. It will also closely monitor the second-hand mobile phone market, the internet and the use and market for other audio-visual products. The Political and Legal system, he said, will push for reforms to promote judicial accountability. CCP CC General Secretary and Chinese President and CMC Chairman Xi Jinping gave important instructions emphasising the need for national law enforcement authorities to enhance their sense of responsibility, improve maintenance of political and legal work, national security, social stability, promote social equity and justice,
