CHINA-US

US Secretary of State John Kerry and Chinese Foreign Minister had a 5-hour meeting in Washington to discuss a range of issues between, what Kerry described as "one of the most consequential relationships in the world". The North Korean nuclear issue and South China Sea dispute were high on their agenda. Interesting was Wang Yi's remark at the joint press conference that "We would like to enhance coordination and cooperation on international and global issues such as the Iranian nuclear issue, Syria, Afghanistan, climate change, and so on".

(Comment: Pertinent is that Afghanistan was mentioned in this context unlike as a "regional" issue as in the past.)
