CHINA-INTERNAL: LEADERSHIP

According to a BBC report of March 25, 2016, a total of 20 people have been detained in China following the publication of a letter calling on President Xi Jinping to resign. The letter was posted earlier this month on a state-backed website Wujie News. Although quickly deleted by the authorities, a cached version can still be found online.

(Comment: These arrests confirm that the letter has been taken serious note of by the CCP leadership, especially the threats to Xi Jinping and his family. It confirms too that there is considerable societal discontent in China.)
