Pema Gyaltsen, a 24-year-old Tibetan man from Nyagrong (in Chinese, Xinlong) in Kardze (Ganzi) county Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture,on March 19, 2017, in a protest against Chinese rule in the first reported self-immolation of 2017. A one-minute video clip depicting the incident was circulating on Tibetan social media.
