A Global Times article of May 18, 2017, citing recent data of China's National Bureau of Statistics said that there had been a moderate growth in home prices across major Chinese cities in April, indicating that tougher measures to rein in the red hot housing market have taken effect and that China's property sector might have passed its peak growth period. Commenting on China's real estate property developers thinking of moving to markets broad including India, the Global Times article said "India may not be a promised land for Chinese property developers seeking new frontiers beyond their homeland".
