CHINA-US: US GOVERNOR BROWN'S VISIT

US California Governor Jerry Brown arrived in Chengdu, China on June 3, 2017, for a five night visit to reaffirm a global obligation to green growth as America’s de facto envoy on climate change. On June 4, he will travel to Nanjing, Jiangsu province, which shares a sister relationship with California. He will promote clean energy investment in meetings with regional and national officials and attend a conference of global energy ministers on June 5. He’ll co-host a forum with Sichuan officials and China’s Ministry of Science and Technology on June 6, 2017. US California Governor Jerry Brown met Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 6, 2017, in the Great Hall of the People, when they discussed global warming and green technology.  Xi Jinpin stressed the state’s unique economic impact and encouraged California to promote ties on the local level in science, innovation and green development, according to a statement from China’s Foreign Ministry.
