CHINA-INTERNAL: XI JINPING'S PROPOSED VISIT TO HONGKONG

Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to be in Hong Kong for three days between June 29 and July 1 for the handover celebrations. On June 30, he is likely to review the local garrison of the People’s Liberation Army. Apart from attending the official banquet and functions, he is expected to visit a home for the elderly as well. He is likely to leave after swearing in the city’s next chief executive, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, on July 1. Almost one-third of Hongkong City's 29,000 strong police force is to be deployed for the security of Chinese leaders.
