CHINA-US: US STATE DEPARTMENT HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT CRITICISES CHINA

The US State Department's Annual Report on Global efforts to end Modern Slavery, which was released on June 27, 2017,  named China as among the world’s worst offenders for allowing modern slavery to thrive within its borders. US Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson released  at the White House on June 27, with Ivanka Trump at his side. This criticism is being interpreted by analysts ad indicative of a possible acceleration in the worsening of US relations with China. The US Commerce Department too is expected this week to announce that for national security reasons, the domestic steel industry must be saved from imports, beginning a process that could lead to significant tariffs being placed on imported steel. The action would likely anger the Chinese.
