CHINA-US: HI-TECH MILITARY EQUIPMENT SALES

A report mentions that the American compny, Teledyne, which makes all kinds of specialized equipment for deep-sea exploration, including some very powerful sonar systems that offer high resolution imagery (among others purposes, for tracking deep sea cables) has been selling equipment to China's PLA Navy (PLAN). They are reported to be selling the PLAN basically all the advanced sonar equipment they need for their hydrographic survey vessels estimated at over 50% of the percentage of hydrographic equipment purchased by PLAN.
(Comment: In March 2016, two Canadians Arthur Xin Pang, 46, and Binqiao Li, 59, were charged with stealing a sensor from their employer Teledyne Dalsa of Waterloo, Ontario, and selling it to two Chinese firms, one of them state-owned, in violation of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and other laws. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the microelectronics were “intended for space satellite use”.)
