Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported on September 4, 2017 that the State Council press office, the powerful Cyberspace Administration, the State Administration of Press and Publications, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) and Culture Ministry, were designated the authorised agencies to comment on developments regarding North Korea in the wake of the hydrogen test. The CCP CC's Propaganda Department issued instructions to "shut down all comment across the board on the North Korean announcement that [supreme leader] Kim Jong Un ordered a hydrogen bomb test, and related news items." It said "All websites are banned from deliberately hyping related topics."
