CHINA-INDIA: MILITARY PREPAREDNESS AT SHIGATSE AIRFIELD

Chinese websites kept a post of the US-based Stratfor, reporting that upgrading work had been carried out at Shigatse military airfield in Tibet between September 2017 and January 2018. The report, which included satellite images, stated that 8 new helipads and a new runway had been built by January 15, 2018 and that J-10, J-11 and JH-7 fighter aircraft were deployed at the airfield on January 15, 2018. It said that on September 27, 2017 there were additionally three Mi-17 helicopters and three Soar Dragon UAVs deployed. The Stratfor Report claimed these aircraft remain deployed at Shigatse airfield.
