CHINA-PLA: ELECTRIFICATION OF BORDER DEFENCE POSTS ON LAND AND SEA

By the beginning of February 2018, the Military Energy Bureau of the Military Logistics Department under the CMC disclosed that 144 border posts of the entire army have been connected to the national power grid, and electric power has been made widely available for application in such fields as combat readiness, equipment support, medical communication in the work and life of the frontier defense units. The leader of the Military Energy Bureau of the Military Logistics Department said in an interview that the joint implementation by the PLA and the PLA frontier defense power grids is an important measure for implementing the strategic thinking of military and civilian integration, innovating and exploring ways of military and civilian integration, and improving the combat readiness training and living standards of the armed forces. On February 6, the National Energy Administration and the Military Energy Administration of the Logistics Department of the Central Military Commission jointly conducted a summary review of the power grid construction of the first batch of border defense island units.
