CHINA-LEADERSHIP: XI JINPING VISITS PLA BASE

On February 10, 2018, CCP CC General Secretary and Chairman of the CMC, Xi Jinping visited a base in Sichuan and met the officers and soldiers and extended sincere New Year greetings on behalf of the Central Committee and CMC. He came to the base launch site where the Beidou III satellite is to be launched. Xi Jinping saw the launch site layout diagram and was briefed on the launch site structure and function. Xi Jinping, the report said, 'is very concerned about the preparation of Beidou III satellite launch mission' and specially came to see it. On February 12 afternoon, Xi Jinping met the leading cadres and Division Commander in Chengdu. CMC Vice Chairman General Zhang Youxia was also present.
