CHINA-INDIA: NEW METEOROLOGICAL STATION ON BORDER

The Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) Shannan City government announced on March 3 that a new meteorological observation station has been established in the Yumei Township 'frontier well-off model village'. It said Shannan Meteorological Bureau technicians sited the automatic weather station between January 11 and 12, 2018. It said the work of site site selection and exploration environment assessment has been basically completed. Since the 19th Party Congress when Yumei Township came into prominence after Xi Jinping wrote a letter to two sisters resident there, Yumei Township has got a road, water and electricity and also WiFi coverage. This laid a good foundation for accelerating the construction of the local meteorological observation system. Shannan City Bureau of Meteorology Mao Shicheng party secretary said the station will provide "high-quality and efficient meteorological services for the development and production of solid-edge people in Yumai Township."
