CHINA-INTERNAL: LEADERSHIP-PREMIER LI KEQIANG'S SPEECH CENSORED

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's speech at the State Council’s first meeting on clean administration on April 27, 2018 had emphasized that the people should use the Internet and big data to “ oversee the government’s behavior throughout the process. ” However, the official version of his speech has deleted the portion asking the people to supervise government actions.

In his speech Li Keqiang had originally said "The government must promote openness in government affairs and continue to exercise power and authority. In particular, it must make full use of modern information technologies such as the Internet and big data to enable the people to supervise government actions throughout the entire process so that power can operate under the sun and effectively control. Inaction and indiscriminate action make corruption nowhere." Promptly on release of the speech, one netizen immediately reacted and wrote: “What people do to supervise you? The newspapers are yours, the TVs are yours, the Internet is yours, the radios are yours, and the cannons are yours. The police are yours, the police are yours, Wu Mao is yours, and the cynics are yours... The people make a micro-blog, if you want to delete it, you delete it, talk about it, threaten it, and tell you to catch it. Ask the middle-aged adults: What do I get? Supervise you?"

The official media stated that Han Zheng, Sun Chunlan, Hu Chunhua and others attended the meeting and Zhao Leji, Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and Yang Xiaodu, Director of the National Supervision Committee were also invited.
