CHINA-TIBET: TIBETAN SENTENCED FOR "INCITING SEPARATISM"

Tibetan language education activist Tashi Wangchuk was sentenced on May 21, to 5 years imprisonment for “inciting separatism” by the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai province. His lawyer said the main evidence presented against Tashi Wangchuk at his trial in January 2018 was a short video documentary produced by The New York Times in 2015, which highlighted Tashi’s campaign for Tibetan language education in schools.
