CHINA-NEPAL: SECURITY COOPERATION

During his 5-day visit to Beijing from October 15, 2014, Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bam Dev Gautam, will discuss cooperation  between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries and other security related matters.

Gautam will lead an eight member delegation which will also discuss border security, training to Nepal police and Armed Police Force and cooperation in the field of disaster management.

Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bam Dev Gautam will be accompanied by his spouse Tulasa Thapa, son Harish, CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Poudel and Prof Keshav Khadka.
The Chinese are reported to be keen to have a direct relationship with the Nepal Police, though the Nepal Government is against the idea.

(It may be recalled that some years ago, during the visit of PLA Chief General Chen Bingde, China established a direct relationship with the Nepal Army despite the objections of Nepal's Defence Ministry.)
