CHINA-JAPAN: RESUMPTION OF RELATIONS
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that China and Japan agreed on November 7, 2014, to gradually resume political, diplomatic and security dialogue while acknowledging their different positions on the Diaoyu Islands. The agreement was reached when Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi met Japan's visiting National Security Advisor Shotaro Yachi. (Comment: Quiet ongoing contacts between China and Japan including the visit of Li Xiaolin, Xi Jinping's friend and Chairperson of China's CPAFFC, to Japan were reported earlier here.)
