CHINA-RUSSIA: ECONOMIC AID

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said China is willing to help counteract an economic slowdown and provide financial aid to develop cooperation. He said this on December 15, at a gathering of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Asthana (Kazakhstan) attended by Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and China. The remarks appeared intended for Russia. (Chinese President Xi Jinping had last month at a conference of Foreign Ministry officials called for China to adopt "big-country diplomacy". According to Bloomberg, China’s reserves are the world’s largest and totalled US$ 3.89 trillion at the end of September. Russia had $373.7 billion at the end of last month.)
