CHINA-RUSSIA: AIRCRAFT DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION

The Beijing-based Sina Military Network on February 7, 2015, said that China and Russia recently reached an agreement to design a new passenger aircraft with the potential to be modified into a refueling aircraft for the air forces of both nations. The cost of developing this new wide-body passenger aircraft is estimated at US$13 billion. The Sina Military Network also said that Russia and China decided to develop the aircraft based on the Russian Ilyushin Il-96.
