71-year old General Xu Caihou, the highest ranking PLA officer to be accused and tried for corruption, died in Beijing on March 15, 2015, due to end-stage bladder cancer, systemic multiple metastases and multiple organ failure. At the time of his expulsion from the CCP, Xinhua said “His case is serious and leaves a vile impact. The party will not harbor corrupt members nor will the armed forces.”
