SAUDI CROWN PRINCE DEFENDED CHINA'S RIGHT TO OPEN CONCENTRATION CAMPS FOR MUSLIMS
Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’’s crown prince, on May 10, defended China’s use of concentration camps for Muslims, saying it was Beijing’s “right”. He was quoted on Chinese state television saying "China has the right to carry out anti-terrorism and de-extremisation work for its national security.”
(Comment: Interestingly only a spokesperson for Turkey's Foreign Office last month described China's treatment of its Uighur population as "a great cause of shame for humanity" and asked it to close the "concentration camps". Since then Turkey has improved economic ties with China. Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan said he “did not know” much about the conditions of the Uighurs.) |
