CHINA-TAIWAN: LINKS BETWEEN CHINA AND TAIWAN MEDIA HOUSE

A Financial Times report of July 18 detailing the links between the Want Want China Times Group, a major Taiwanese media group, and various PRC entities was publicised recently. The article also provided evidence that the WWCT Group is promoting the candidacy of Han Kuo-yu. It said “Before last November’s election in Kaohsiung, a DPP stronghold, the media group sent several dozen reporters and editorial managers to the city to help push his campaign. The China Times Group has reacted strongly to this coverage, as have its supporters and supporters of Han Kuo-yu. Taiwan’s National Communications Commission is investigating the claims in the FT article.
