CHINA-LEADERSHIP: XI JINPING ADDRESSES CPPCC WORK CONFERENCE IN BEIJING

On September 20, CCP CC General Secretary Xi Jinping spoke at the CPPCC Central Work Conference in Beijing on promoting a greater exchange of ideas, broader consultation in decision-making, and the need of finding consensus. Xinhua reported that Xi Jinping said “We should let everybody give opinions and criticism – even if they are harsh – and listen to them with a good attitude". Appearing to set limits though, he said "CPPCC members come from all walks of life and have different opinions on some issues, but our political positions cannot be vague and our political principles cannot waver.” He added “We need to study and implement the Party line and constantly improve our… identification with the CCP and with socialism with Chinese characteristics.”
