CHINA-HEALTH EMERGENCY: NO NEW COVID-19 CASES IN BEIJING

Beijing (Caixin, July 7) reported no additional confirmed Covid-19 cases on July 7.  The Beijing Municipal Health Commission said this is the first time there have been no new cases since a flare-up emerged at a wholesale food market in the suburbs of the Chinese capital June 11. The recent flare-up sickened 335 patients, 320 of whom are still hospitalized while 15 have recovered. Additionally, 31 cases without symptoms are under medical observation. Beijing has been reporting consecutive single-digit increases in daily confirmed cases for more than a week. However, an asymptomatic case reported July 3 with 204 close contacts fueled public fears.
