Xinhua reported (July 23) that Chinese President Xi Jinping travelled to Jilin on July 22 on an inspection visit. He visited an agricultural collective in Lishu County and also visited a memorial to the Battle of Siping, a 1946 battle in the Chinese Civil War where he paid tribute to the martyrs. In Lishu County, Xi Jinping was briefed on Grain production, protection and use of black soil and mechanized and large-scale farming.

(Comment: “Rural revitalization” is one of Xi’s signature policy initiatives and his visit would be to see on-the-ground how the initiative is progressing.)
