CHINA-PAKISTAN: CHINESE MEDIA SAYS FIRST CHINA-BUILT FRIGATE FOR PAKISTAN LAUNCHED AND WILL BECOME MAIN FORCE FOR PAK NAVY "TO FIGHT INDIA"

A Chinese media platform reported on August 25 that the first of the four advanced frigates built by China for Pakistan was launched on August 22. It said the launching ceremony of the 054A/P frigate was held at Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard. The latest delivery time for the frigates is the end of 2021. The Type-054A frigate of the same type is in service in the Chinese Navy and is recognised as the backbone of the Chinese Navy. It noted that Pakistan Navy had ordered the frigates "in order to deal with its old enemy India" and that these frigates "will undoubtedly become the main force of the Pakistan Navy's surface fleet, allowing the Pakistan Navy to calmly fight the Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier and ocean-going operations in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Gulf".
