CHINA-S&T: CHINA'S DEEP-SEA MANNED SUBMERSIBLE VESSEL 'THE STRUGGLE' CONGRATULATED BY XI JINPING ON ITS RETURN

The state-owned CCTV on November 28 reported that China's all-sea deep manned submersible the "Struggle",  successfully completed the 10,000-meter sea trial and returned successfully on November 28. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter  and sincere greetings to all scientific researchers who are committed to deep-sea equipment research and development and abyssal scientific research. Xi Jinping pointed China's ability to enter the deepest part of the world's oceans to carry out scientific exploration and research and reflects its comprehensive strength in the field of marine high-tech. Politburo member and Vice Premier Liu He read out Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter and delivered a speech via video connection at a ceremony on November 28. CCTV said since the '13th Five-Year Plan', the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China State Shipbuilding Corporation has organized nearly a thousand researchers from nearly 100 scientific research institutes, universities, and enterprises to successfully complete the development of the Struggle. Starting from October 10, 2020, the Struggle went to the Mariana Trench to conduct a 10,000-meter sea trial and successfully completed 13 dives, of which 8 times exceeded 10,000 meters. On November 10, the Struggle created a new record of 10,909 meters in China's manned deep diving.
