CHINA-LEADERSHIP: CHINA'S POLITICS AND LEGAL AFFAIRS COMMISSION
On January 9, China's Political and Legal Affairs Commission met in Beijing system to discuss their priorities for the coming year. It emphasised that the number one priority for 2021 is having the right political orientation. The second priority is Economic development. This latter was reported as “Focusing on creating a market-oriented, rule-of-law based, and international business environment, we should promote the improvement of relevant laws and regulations, severely punish relevant crimes in accordance with the law, and strengthen the enforcement of anti-monopoly...laws.” It also said “We should speed up the formation of a coherent legal system for the extraterritorial application of Chinese laws.”
