CHINA-CPPCC: PREPARATIONS BEGIN FOR 'BIG TWO' IN BEIJING
Wang Yang, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), presided over a meeting of CPPCC chairpersons to discuss preparations for the CPPCC’s annual session. The meeting decided that this year’s session will commence on March 4 and discuss in detail formulation of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The 'Big Two' will also approve the government’s work report, which signals policy priorities for the year to officials at all levels as well as the business community.
(Comment: The decision to convene the 'Big Two' this March -- just seven weeks hence -- indicates that the Chinese government is confident that they have the situation, including of the pandemic, under control.)
