CHINA-LEADERSHIP: CHINESE PREMIER LI KEQIANG CHAIRS STATE COUNCIL PLENARY MEETING
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang chaired a State Council plenary meeting on January 20, where key documents for the upcoming 'Big Two' Sessions were reviewed. Specifically, the State Council reviewed drafts of The 2021 Government Work Report and The 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) Outline. The draft documents will now be circulated for input from central government departments and provincial governments. Li Keqiang also told the members that a successful five years will hinge on a good start. For 2021, he identified as priorities: Improve epidemic prevention and control; Maintain continuity, stability, and sustainability in macro policies; Support the economic recovery; Devote more resources to scientific innovation; and Expand reform and opening-up, so that enterprises can grow with confidence.
