CHINA-FRANCE: CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SAYS MACRON AND XI JINPING PUSHED FOR EARLY IMPLEMENTATION OF CHINA-EU INVESTMENT AGREEMENT

Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron, According to Caixin (February 26) the Chinese Foreign Ministry released a statement on February 25 calling for joint efforts for an early entry into force of the China-EU investment agreement. It said the two Presidents spoke over the telephone and agreed to work together to push forward the ratification process of the China-EU Comprehensive Agreement on Investment, which expands European market access to China. The statement also said that Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that China and France should continue to champion multilateralism and inspire global efforts, making due contributions to achieving an early victory in humanity’s fight against Covid-19.
