CHINA-SPACE: CHINA TO LAUNCH SMART DRAGON-3 CARRIER ROCKET IN FIRST HALF OF NEXT YEAR

China Daily (March 9) said that Li Hong, Deputy General Manager of the State-owned China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.(CAST) and Delegate to the CPPCC, disclosed on the sidelines of the ongoing CPPCC session that CAST plans to carry out the maiden flight of its Smart Dragon 3 carrier rocket in the first half of next year. He described the Smart Dragon 3 as a four-stage solid-propellant rocket and the largest and strongest in the Smart Dragon fleet. He said "Its first mission will be based on a launch platform at sea."
