CHINA-CCP: MEETING IN BEIJING SIGNALS LAUNCH OF NATIONWIDE CAMPAIGN TO STUDY PARTY HISTORY

The Central Propaganda Department, the Central Organization Department, the Central Party History and Documentation Research Institute, the Central and State Organ Working Committee, the Ministry of Education, the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, and the Beijing Municipal Committee jointly organised a meeting in Beijing on Party history. People’s Daily (March 17) reported that almost 700 people attended the meeting. Qu Qingshan, a member of the Central Propaganda Group and Dean of the Central Party History and Documentation Research Institute, presented a report at the meeting. He spoke about promoting Xi Thought in this context with the aim of enhancing the “four confidences,” which then leads to the aim of the “two maintenances.” Qu Qingshan also emphasised the need for everyone in the Party to understand the significance of learning history. He said that “we must strive to effectively transform the various goals and tasks of party history learning and education into common understanding and firm action.” The meeting marked the beginning of the Central Propaganda Department’s nationwide drive to visit cities and towns to push this agenda on Party history.
