CHINA-US: HU XIJIN, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF GLOBAL TIMES, WARNS U.S. AGAINST COMMITTING "STRATEGIC SUICIDE" BY SIMULTANEOUSLY CONFRONTING CHINA AND RUSSIA

In a video released by Global Times on March 23, the Editor-in-Chief of Global Times Hu Xijin pointed to the apparent coincidence in the Russian Foreign Minister visiting China on the same day the strategic talks were underway between senior U.S. and Chinese officials. He said "after the talks Alaska it left people with enough room to imagine" but asked viewers to remember that  Russia and China are "partners" not "allies" and have persisted in this stand despite increasing pressure from the U.S. However, while stating that the U.S. is trying to create a coalition of forces against China, he said the world does not want to see the world split into military blocs that confront each other. "This makes it clear who is acting against the wishes of the international community, who has the moral high ground and who is losing it". Hu Xijin stressed "there is no upper limit between the two countries. The two countries will not only have each other's backs strategically but will also face future challenges side by side. Both countries are very strong and no ally of the U.S. can withstand a one-on-one confrontation with either China or Russia. To be an enemy of both China and Russia at the same time is even more like strategic suicide. China and Russia did not exert any pressure on U.S. allies nor enact offensive policies against them". Hu Xijin said, "Hopefully they will keep a clear head and not follow the US against China and Russia."
