South China Morning Post (March 24) said that speaking at a hearing with the Senate Armed Services Committee, U.S. Admiral John Aquilino told the Senate Armed Services Committee that the point at which China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) would be equipped for a mission to take over Taiwan was “much closer than most think”. He dismissed varying predicted timelines that extend out to 2045. Admiral John Aquilinowas responding to a question from Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton.
