PBSC member and NPC Chairman Li Zhanshu presided over a meeting in Beijing on April 29, to exchange discussions and listen to the work of strengthening and improving the work of the People’s Congress in the new era. The People's Daily (May 1) reported that Li Zhanshu emphasised during the exchange and discussion with the responsible comrades of the Standing Committee of the Local People's Congress that they must 'Adhere to the leadership of the party, the people are the masters of the country, govern the country according to law, be organically unified, focus on the center and the overall situation, and better serve the country and people'. Wang Chen, Politburo member and Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the forum.
