CHINA-PARTY: ANHUI UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS WRITE ARTICLE WARNING AGAINST WEST'S EFFORTS TO PROMOTE "UNIVERSAL VALUES" AMONG CHINA'S STUDENTS

The China Education Daily (May 13) published an article by Zhang Xiaojing and Qiao Kai, Associate Professor of Anhui University of Finance and Economics and Professor of Bengbu Medical College respectively who are both Special Researchers of the Anhui Research Center for Socialist Theory with Chinese Characteristics, captioned 'Study party history well and enhance ideological immunity'. In addition to emphasising the importance of history and culture, they asserted that "A good study of party history can enhance young students’ understanding of the nature of erroneous trends of thought, enhance their ideological immunity, and thus unswervingly listen to and follow the party, and write a chapter of life in the great practice of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way." The authors stated that "Some wrong thoughts in the West today affect the growth of young students and interfere with the party's training of socialist builders and successors. How to resist the confusion, erosion, and penetration of the wrong thoughts on young students is an important issue that needs to be dealt with seriously. A good study of party history can enhance young students’ understanding of the nature of erroneous trends of thought, enhance their ideological immunity, and thus unswervingly listen to and follow the party, and write a chapter of life in the great practice of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way." The article stressed the need to "Resist the negative impact of "universal values" on young students. The so-called "universal value" is essentially the value of Western capitalism, which contains the strategic attempt of ideological struggle. The usual tactic for the spread of "universal values" is to slander, slander, and vilify other countries at the ideological level under the banner of freedom, democracy, and human rights. After the drastic changes in Eastern Europe and the disintegration of the Soviet Union, some Western countries intensified their efforts to promote the so-called "universal values." In my country, in recent years, "universal values" have been especially aimed at young people to infiltrate, using the Internet and other new media to disguise their ideological fallacies, belittle the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, and deny the core socialist values, which has had a negative impact on some young students. It is worth our high vigilance."
