CHINA-US: U.S. MEDIA OUTLET CLAIMS ERIC GARCETTI, TIPPED AS BIDEN'S CHOICE FOR U.S. AMBASSADOR TO INDIA HAS TIES WITH CCP CC'S UFWD

National Pulse on May 26 reported that current Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, US President Biden's reported choice for US Ambassador to India, has a "long history of collaboration with groups tied to the Chinese Communist Party’s United Front Work Department (UFWD)". It said he visited China in 2014 at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), visited Chinese companies labelled “military collaborators” such as Huawei and “signed quite a few cooperation agreements”,  was a member of the 2016 delegation led by John Podesta, the founder of CAP and former chief of staff for President Bill Clinton at a China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) meeting attended by "high-level Chinese Communist Party officials and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Generals",  has participated in launch events for CUSEF research papers, including those shaping U.S.-China relations in favour of closer ties between the two countries, and has appeared repeatedly on Chinese state-run media outlets to criticize former President Donald Trump’s tariffs on the Chinese industry. AXIOS reported that Garcetti, who served as the co-chair of Biden's presidential campaign, was initially considered for the Cabinet. However, his chances diminished after a sexual harassment lawsuit against one of his former aides, Rick Jacobs, received national attention after journalist Yashar Ali reported about his own experience with Jacobs.
