The People's Daily (May 20) reported the visit of the Head of the United Front Work Department (UFWD) to Henan province between May 17-19. He inspected ethnic communities and religious venues in Zhengzhou and Luoyang. During his tour, You Quan emphasized that religious issues have always been a major issue in governing the country and that "It is necessary to unify our thinking and understanding with the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important expositions and important instructions on religious work, and adhere to the direction of sinicization of religion". He also said it is necessary to "establish and improve a long-term mechanism to prevent the infiltration and spread of religion, take multiple measures, address both the symptoms and the root causes, and effectively prevent and resolve hidden risks in the religious field, and maintain national security and social stability". You Quan also visited various democratic parties in Henan and the provincial party committees and the provincial federation of industry and commerce.
