CHINA-EDUCATION: FUDAN UNIVERSITY MATHEMATICS PROFESSOR STABBED TO DEATH BY COLLEAGUE ON JUNE 7

Chinese social media revealed a stabbing incident in Shanghai's Fudan University on June 7 when 39-year Jiang Wenhua stabbed to death Wang Yongzhen, Party Secretary of the Fudan Mathematics Department. Jiang Wenhua is a colleague in the same department. Guangcha, the portal maintained by the CCP CC's Propaganda Department carried a post stating that on June 7, the Cultural Security Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau issued a police report stating that at 14:52 that day, a knife wound occurred at a university in Handan Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai. The police quickly arrived at the scene to control the suspect Jiang (male, 39 years old, a teacher of the school). After on-site confirmation, the victim Wang (male, 49 years old, a colleague of Jiang) was dead. After preliminary interrogation, Jiang Mou stated that he had infringed upon the victim because of his grudge against the victim due to his work. Jiang has now been criminally detained in accordance with the law, and the case is under further investigation. A report states that Jiang Wenhua was dismissed by the school for failing to pass the six-year "promotion or leave" assessment task. When the school party committee secretary Wang Yongzhen read out the dismissal letter, his neck was cut by Jiang Wenhua and the victim died on the spot.
