CHINA-CCP: MILITARY FLYPAST TO BE HELD ON CCP'S CENTENARY ON JULY 1

The Global Times (June 13) reported that the PLAAF's new J-20 stealth fighters, the new Z-8L helicopters and the Z-19 gunship and the Z-10 gunship will perform a flypast at the CCP's centenary celebrations on July 1. The rehearsal held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on June 13 involved more than 14,000 personnel. The Washington-based Duowei said CCP General Secretary Xi Jinping will deliver a speech, but speculated whether veteran leaders including Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao and Zhu Rongji would attend due to their age.

(Comment: It is interesting that the military flypast is being held though on March 23 the official spokesman had announced there would be no military parade on the occasion of the CCP's 100th anniversary. revision of the decision could have been prompted because of considerations of morale of the PLA.)
